Dr Sharmini Diana Parampalam

Dr Sharmini is a Consultant and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Penang Hospital. She has been involved in PBM since 2017. She is a strong advocate for PBM and a believer that PBM should be practiced across all disciplines, after witnessing that the usage of blood has reduced tremendously in her department after the implementation of PBM. Dr Sharmini is passionate about the importance of assessing the patient as a whole and thus champions the principles of PBM.

Dr Ong Chiew Ping

Dr Ong graduated as Transfusion Medicine Specialist from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She is actively involved in implementing Haemovigilance and Patient Blood Management Programmes in Malaysia. Dr Ong has been invited as speaker in various national and international conferences to present in the field of Clinical Transfusion and Patient Blood Management.

Nur Nadhirah bt Mohd Fauzi

Nur Nadhirah is an aspiring leader. As the executive director, she is an expert in coordinating and managing the society, while promoting the cause of PBM. She has developed a special interest in implementing PBM and has been the society’s public figure in raising awareness on the superiority of PBM.

Dr Asral Wirda binti Ahmad Asnawi

Dr. Asnawi, is a Haematopathologist and Associate Professor at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. One of her first publications was on the importance of red cell molecular genotyping in transfusion-dependent thalassaemia patients. Apart from her many research interests in molecular genetics, she strives to increase awareness regarding the need of PBM among colleagues and medical students.

Dr Shahnaz Irwani binti Sabri

Dr Irwani is a Transfusion Medicine Specialist who works at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Sabah. She was appointed Head of Transfusion Medicine Service in Sabah in 2011 and is a member of the International Society of Blood Transfusion’s working party on Platelet & Granulocytes Immunobiology, she is planning to establish the service in Sabah.

Dr Ananthi Krishnamoorthy

Dr Krishnamoorthy is a medical doctor with diverse experience in rehabilitation medicine, primary care & occupational health. She has varied her career including stints at the Blood Management Center St Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, USA, and the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery UPENN, Pennsylvania, PA USA.

Prof Dr. Ina Ismiarti Shariffuddin

Prof Dr Ina Ismiarti Shariffuddin is a professor of Anaesthesia in the University Malaya. As an anaesthetist she truly advocates the principles of PBM in her day-to-day practice and strive for the paradigm shift in perioperative blood transfusion practices in Malaysia. She is a regular speaker at national conferences.

Dr Veena a/p Selvaratnam

Dr Veena is a Haematologist in Hospital Ampang, with special interest in coagulation and haemostasis. Her keen interest in PBM stems from managing patients with bleeding disorders leading to anaemia. Under the guidance of Dr Jameela, she has managed many anaemic patients with alternative therapies, avoiding blood transfusion; this continues to be her current practise.

Dr Ahlam Naila binti Kori

Dr Ahlam is a clinical haematologist based in the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan and also serves as the state haematologist in Pahang. Her main interests are haemostasis, thrombosis and PBM.

Dr Ahlam is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops and is also involved in writing the national clinical practice guidelines for Thalassaemia.

Dr Kevin Ng Wei Shan

Dr Kevin Ng is an anaesthesiologist and medical lecturer with a passion for advocating better PBM in the perioperative patient. He has a keen interest in improving the usage and conservation of blood perioperatively and is keen to push research forward in these areas. Dr Kevin has lectured widely on the subject in Malaysia.

Dr Norasrina Binti Ishak

Dr Norasrina is a Transfusion Medicine Specialist and Head of Blood Procurement Division at the National Blood Centre Kuala Lumpur. She was involved in development of transfusion clinical practice guidelines and had presented at conferences. She is now enhancing her PBM implementation experience by pursuing further training in this field.

Dr Sharmila a/p Manian

Dr Sharmila is a trainee in the Transfusion Medicine field, currently under the Universiti Sains Malaysia Masters program, previously practicing in the Blood Bank in Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar, Seremban. She is a keen learner and enthusiast of PBM, striving to promote and implement the principles of PBM into clinical practice.

Dr Andrew Tan Chin Aun

Dr Andrew Tan is a Medical Doctor in Occupational Safety & Health Unit, Hospital Tunku Azizah, Kuala Lumpur. He had early exposure to PBM since internship, has gained further experience practicing PBM in clinical settings while working in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology field and has cultivated added skills organising PBM courses.
